The Tertiary Education Commission

The Tertiary Education Commission/Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua (TEC) is the main funder of our organisation, community and workplace programmes around Aotearoa.

The Tertiary Education Commission/Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a Crown Agency that leads the Government’s relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provides career services from education to employment. The TEC invests over $3 billion into the tertiary education and supporting the tertiary and careers system to ensure New Zealanders are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for lifelong success.

The Ministry of Social Development

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) has a goal of enabling and equipping people and communities to be independent and successful. Literacy Aotearoa shares this goal and is often able to provide educational support for MSD clients in our community classes. We take referrals into community classes and in some regions we design and deliver bespoke programmes for groups of MSD clients such as job seeker training. In the Nelson area we deliver a tenancy programme preparing clients for social housing. Sometimes we work inside a formal agreement or contract, sometimes we collaborate informally with local MSD offices to set up or promote local education opportunities.

The Ministry for Pacific Peoples

Literacy Aotearoa is proud to be one of the organisations delivering the Tupu Aotearoa programme for the Ministry for Pacific Peoples. We value the opportunity to work with Pasifika communities and use our respective capabilities to support our people to reach their aspirations.  The Ministry for Pacific Peoples funds the Tupu Aotearoa programme to help Pacific people find employment and/or complete career training or study by supporting Pacific people to gain tools and skills that enable them to thrive.  It is an honour to be a partner and to be sharing the vaka that will grow and contribute to the flourishing of Pasifika peoples in Aotearoa.

We apply for and gratefully receive regional funding from philanthropic organisations such as regional trusts, charities and foundations, who are promoting improved outcomes for their communities. This funding allows us to extend the reach of our education and enhance our learner's experience.

Foundation North

To enhance lives, Foundation North provides funding and support to initiatives large and small to respond to their communities now and for generations to come. In doing so, they support community-based initiatives in Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau.

Rātā Foundation

Rātā Foundation want to support communities now and into the future - by providing a funding framework which provides options and flexibility. In line with our purpose they focus funding in five key areas of Learn, Support, Connect, Participate and Sustain.

Trust Waikato

Trust Waikato aims to achieve transformational change for people, families, communities and places where the need is greatest. Priorities for impact include facilitating improved outcomes for the highest need communities in the region and strengthening the community sector.

Eastern Central Community Trust

Eastern & Central Community Trust gives grants and support to community organisations operating in the Gisborne Tairawhiti, Hawke’s Bay, Tararua, Manawatu, Horowhenua and Wairarapa districts - to support the growth of thriving communities.

Bay Trust

BayTrust supports community groups from Katikati to Turangi to Cape Runaway including Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga and Whakatane -  supporting communities with grants for organisations and projects, to accelerate bold meaningful change, assisting BOP communities and the environment to flourish.

We often support other education organisations, adding our specialist focus on literacy and numeracy to support their learners.

Te Pūkenga

We have provided support to apprentices studying with a range of Industry Training Organisations over the past years.
Te Pūkenga is now the umbrella organisation for these and we will continue to provide apprentice education support to help people involved in industry training complete their study. If you are an apprentice struggling with course work, please speak to your training advisor about study support we can provide.

National Trades Academy

NTA have been providing land-based education and training since 2000 - teaching students the practical skills and knowledge required for successful careers in the land-based industries. They have now extended to other industries in partnership with a number of other training institutes to increase the number of work ready graduates.
Literacy Aotearoa provides ongoing literacy and numeracy education to support student pathways.

Te Mahi Ako

Te Mahi Ako is a not-for-profit Tertiary Education Organisation specialising in work-based learning. Their learners are enrolled in qualifications in various workplaces all over Aotearoa, in the active recreation, leisure and entertainment sectors. Literacy Aotearoa provides literacy and numeracy tuition to Te Mahi Ako learners to support successful completion of their respective qualifications.

Uptempo

Uptempo work to create transformative change for Pasifika in Aotearoa - working in South and West Auckland - and partner with government agencies and employers, to support workforce-wide changes that deliver clear pathways to highly paid jobs. We are happy to be working with Uptempo offering a range of support around digital skills, financial skills, wellbeing, helping people pass the Road Code test to get their learner driver licence.
